Fukuoka office, reopened with a whole new look

Hello, my name is Kushii. I work in the development department in Japan and I'm in charge of promoting technology events at LINE.

LINE has quite a few development offices worldwide where many engineers write code every day. We have offices in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Fukushima in Japan and also in Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The Fukuoka office was relocated recently, and I think this is a good opportunity to introduce the brand new, upgraded working place for our engineers.

The new office is located in the JRJP Hakata building, directly accessible from Hakata station. When you first set foot in the building, the LINE Friends characters greet you at the entrance.

The engineers floor has an all-white color scheme and a high ceiling.

We reorganized all our tech books while moving into the new building. The new office is furnished with a full set of O'Reilly technology books.

All the desks can be raised to become standing desks.

You can choose from 5 different types of chairs including the Aeron office chair.

There is ample room between desks so that engineers can get together and have discussions.

Meeting spaces are designed using various styles so that engineers can communicate in whatever way they feel like.

Some sofas can be moved around.

The seminar room can accommodate around 60 people.

Telepresence rooms are equipped with facilities to support video conferencing with other office members.

The cafeteria provides a comfortable space for taking breaks, having discussions, or having group studies.

Sometimes, if you want to write code in a more casual environment, this is the perfect place.

The cafeteria serves freshly brewed coffee.

Today I gave you a quick tour of the LINE Fukuoka office. I will also introduce how our development sectors look like in more detail later.

The Fukuoka office is not the only one being renovated. LINE is planning to move the Tokyo office currently located in Hikarie, Shibuya to the Miraina Tower in Shinjuku in January 2017.
