Hi there, I’m Tan, a member of Developer Relations team in LINE Thailand. Recently, LINE Thailand has held the first technology conference by the name of “LINE Thailand DEVELOPER CONFERENCE 2019”. The event took place at BITEC Bangna on Saturday, May 25th. We had many developer guests as well as people from technology communities, with a pleasantly surprising participation count of more than 800 participants.
A wide range of sessions were offered under the main theme of “Endless Possibilities with LINE API”. Of the 13 offered, the main topics covered LINE Redesign, LINE Messaging API, LIFF, LINE Things, and Rabbit LINE Pay. Other topics included other useful and interesting technologies used by both LINE Thailand’s Engineering teams, as well as our Global engineering team, such as Micro-frontend, HBase, Machine Learning, and many more!
The limitless capabilities of LINE API
The main topics offered at the event explored each branch of the LINE API Ecosystem which consists of a variety of technologies and platforms for external businesses to develop their own services within LINE. Such services will enrich the ecosystem which will ultimately provide value and benefits to our 44 million users in Thailand.
The biggest announcement during the event was the unlocking user access to LINE Messaging API for developers, which allows developers to test LINE Messaging API without the 50 follower limit. The unlocking creates an opportunity for Thai developers to extend their skills and create new services. It also enables small businesses to provide a variety of services which will allow our users to do their daily tasks more efficiently.
The session introduced new examples to LINE API to enrich chatbots even further by using different technologies such as LIFF, LINE Things, and LINE Pay. Case studies from leading business organizations who have created efficient chatbots, such as SCB Connect and Wongnai, were also shared.
To further push aspiring developers to get started with LINE API, LINE Thailand has collaborated with Skooldio to launch a series of free online courses. The courses guide a developer or any individual with minimal knowledge and experience in software development to develop their very own LINE chatbot with ease. For more details, see here. Experience LINE APIs and Services
The entrance of the event welcomed participants with ten booths; each providing information, examples, activities, and an expert on the topic for each service provided. The booths allowed participants to understand the technologies and applications of each service better and to experience and engage with each service in new ways. For example, the LINE Things booth provided participants to pair IoT devices with their smartphones and interact with the devices in real-time through LINE. The LINE MAN booth also challenged participants to find the restaurants quickly.
Under the mission of “Closing the distance”, LINE will continue to strive to create services and innovations that connect users and services together. Creating awareness of LINE technology will become beneficial to all developers, which is an important key to drive a variety of new services to LINE users.
